After more than a decade of service, the superintendent of the Southern Cayuga Central School District will retire at the end of the current school year.
Patrick Jensen, the district's superintendent for 13 years, will step down effective June 30. The board of education accepted his resignation at its meeting on Monday, Jensen told 水果派AV in an email.
Jensen said he will be eligible for retirement at the end of the school year after more than 30 years in education. He is looking forward聽to spending more time with and traveling with his family.

The superintendent said he is proud of several accomplishments at Southern Cayuga over the years, including an increase in English/language arts and math test scores. The district has been recognized as a top performer on testing for third through eighth grades in central New York for the last two years as well.
Jensen said the district has also completed almost $30 million in infrastructure upgrades in the last 13 years, expanded universal prekindergarten programming, "maintained (the) lowest tax rate in CNY while rebuilding financial reserves," and reopened the Southern Cayuga Planetarium on the district's campus聽in 2019 after it was closed for five years.
"The district has a great professional faculty and staff who are committed to the success of our students," he said.
Jensen said the school board will share its plans "in the near future" for finding a new superintendent.
