Growing up in Auburn, there were certain families that everyone knew and admired. The Buschman family is undoubtedly one of the best. I grew up alongside Julie, Steve's sister, but it wasn鈥檛 until my 20s that I had the pleasure of meeting Steve and several of his siblings. If you were fortunate enough to know their mother, you would understand why this family is infused with such a wonderful disposition.
My experience with Steve has been marked by friendship and a deep appreciation for his support during some of the most difficult times in my life, particularly regarding my daughter, Jessica, who passed away three years ago. Unfortunately, I became intimately acquainted with the Cayuga County Family Court system when my daughter was just 2 years old. I fought for custody back in the late '80s and then found myself in a similar battle for the custody of my grandchildren nearly 14 years ago. Throughout my journey, I have encountered many family judges and law guardians, and I can genuinely say I was always treated with respect and dignity.

This brings me to why I feel compelled to stand by my friend Steve Buschman. I know him to be a decent man with a strong moral character, committed to fairness and respect. His perspective is rooted in compassion and understanding, and I wholeheartedly believe he would uphold these values as a family court judge. Knowing the court system as I do, I am confident that he would be an exceptional advocate for our community.
Steve is one of our own, and I fully support his candidacy. My vote and dedication will be for Steve Buschman!
